Sons of Kalal donate CD sales to Haiti
When the MCs of New Hampshire hip-hop band Sons of Kalal and their label
reps at LFD Enterprise heard rumors that government officials in Haiti
were hoarding donated money and goods for their own profit, they decided
to take action with music.
Sons of Kalal will donate proceeds from sales of their 2009 album “No
Plan B” to a relief group that distributes money and supplies directly
to the people who need it. The initiative will apply to all CDs sold
between now and March 28.
On that date, the band will be one of several acts performing at a
daylong benefit music festival at Milly’s Tavern in Manchester. There,
they’ll give their CD profits to Jesus is the Way Worldwide Missions,
who will also collect donations of money, food, clothing, water,
blankets and first aid supplies.
“No Plan B,” Sons of Kalal’s debut album, echoes hip-hop influences like
Jurassic Five and The Roots, along with funky R&B groups like
Parliament Funkadelic. The CD is available on iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody
and CD Baby, or at www.sonsofkalal.com.
